Efecto inductor de un extracto de hojas de frutilla (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) sobre la germinación y el crecimiento de lechuga (Lactuca sativa L.)

Abstract

Esta investigación tuvo por finalidad determinar los efectos de un extracto hidroalcohólico de hojas de frutilla (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) en la germinación y el crecimiento de plantas de lechuga (Lactuca sativa L.) var. crispa. El extracto hidroalcohólico de frutilla (EHF) se obtuvo a partir de hojas recolectadas al final del ciclo del cultivo. Se evaluaron los efectos de cuatro concentraciones del EHF sobre la germinación y el crecimiento de plantas de lechuga en condiciones controladas y de campo. La mayor concentración ensayada del EHF (100 mgPF/mL) tuvo efecto inhibitorio en el porcentaje de semillas germinadas y la longitud de la radícula, mientras que el resto de las concentraciones (10, 1 y 0,1 mgPF/mL) aceleraron la germinación y elongación de la radícula con respecto al tratamiento control. Las plantas tratadas con las tres concentraciones más bajas del EHF presentaron valores medios superiores en peso fresco, peso seco, longitud de parte área y radicular con respecto al tratamiento control. Estos resultados demuestran que el EHF induce enla lechuga un estímulo que, en dependencia de la concentración, inhibe o estimula el crecimiento por lo que podría ser potencialmente utilizado para diferentes objetivos dentro de un esquema de producción orgánica.

The goal of this research was to determine the effects of a hydroalcoholic extract of strawberry leaves (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) on the germination and growth of lettuce seedlings (Lactuca sativa L.) var. crispa. Strawberryhydroalcoholic extract (EHF) was obtained from leaves collected at the end of the crop cycle. The effects of four EHF concentrations on germination and growth of lettuce seedlings under controlled and field conditions were evaluated. The highest EHF concentration tested (100 mgPF/mL) had an inhibitory effect on the number of germinated seeds and the length of the radicle, while the rest of the concentrations (10, 1 and 0.1 mgPF/mL) accelerated the germination and elongation of the radicle with respect to the control treatment. The plants treated with the three lowest concentrations ofEHF showed higher mean values in fresh and dry weight, length of the aerial part and root with respect to the control treatment. These results show that EHF generates a stimulus in lettuce that, depending on the concentration, inhibits or stimulates growth, so it could be potentially used for different objectives within an organic production scheme.
